$1.2 Million NSF award for Real-time Energy-elastic GPUs

ECE Professors Daniel Wong (PI), Hyoseung Kim, and Nael Abu-Ghazaleh have received a $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop Real-time Energy-elastic GPUs for Embedded Autonomous Systems.

The goal of this project is to fundamentally re-design GPU-enabled computer systems in real-time embedded resource-constrained environments. This project will develop energy-efficient and elastic microarchitectures, timing-aware hardware schedulers that coordinate with OS real-time task scheduler, and provide coordination across the entire software-hardware computing stack.
The developed next-generation real-time embedded GPUs will provide more computational power to enable future embedded autonomous systems to become safer and more energy-efficient.
