Graduate Overview

The ECE department is seeking disciplined and creative graduate students to work with faculty on innovative research in a challenging, yet collaborative environment. Given the various applications of ECE across industries, the graduate programs are interdisciplinary in nature and students can expect to engage with other colleges on campus, universities throughout the world, and business leaders in the industry.

The department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and on average produces one Ph.D. graduate per faculty member per year. The department is heavily engaged with the campus and system-wide research centers and has access to a shared class 100 clean room available for the fabrication of nanodevices such as graphene transistors. Graduate students travel nationally and internationally to present their research at conferences and they obtain summer internships and permanent jobs with top universities and industries.

Academic decisions are based on a number of factors, including the academic degrees and record, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, test scores, relevant experience, appropriateness of the applicant’s goals to the degree program, and its relationship to the research interests of the faculty.
