Do I need it?!

Wang received the BSEE degree from Tsinghua University, China, the MSEE degree from the Chinese Academy of Science, and the PhD degree in EE from State University of New York at Buffalo, in 1985, 1988 and 1996, respectively.

Wang has more than six years of electronic industry experiences, most recently with National Semiconductor Corp. in the Silicon Valley as a Staff R&D Engineer. From 1998 to 2007, he was with the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) as Assistant/Associate Professor, and directed the Integrated Electronics Laboratory at IIT. In 2007, Wang joined the Dept of Electrical Engineering, University of California, Riverside (UCR), as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director for the Laboratory for Integrated Circuits and Systems.

Wang's research interests center on RF/Analog/Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits (IC), Design-for-Reliability and ESD (electrostatic Discharge) Protection for ICs and Systems, Systems-on-a-Chip (SoC), IC CAD and Modeling, Emerging  Nano Devices and Circuits, etc. His research has been sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the global semiconductor industries.

Wang's teaching interests concentrate on semiconductor integrated circuits. He prefers to prepare students with both fundamental knowledge and industry-desired skills by challenging them with application-oriented problems and familiarizing them with industrial standard design methodology and tools.

Wang's academic credits include one book entitled “On-Chip ESD Protection for Integrated Circuits” (Kluwer, 2002), more than 150 peer-reviewed papers and six U.S. patents. Wang received the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation, USA, in 2002, the University Research Award from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2003, the Chunhui Outstanding Overseas Scholar Award from the Ministry of Education, China, in 2006, and the Outstanding Overseas Young Scholar Award from the NSF of China in 2007. Wang is Editor for IEEE Electron Device Letters and Guest Editor for the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits. He was Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I, Guest Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, Guest Editor for IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits and Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II. Wang currently serves as Vice President for IEEE Electron Devices Society. He has been an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer for both the Electron Devices Society and the Solid-State Circuits Society since 2001. He is a Member of the IEEE VLSI Technology and Circuits Committee, the IEEE Analog Signal Processing Technical Committee (ASPTC) and the SIA International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductor (ITRS) committee. He has been serving for many IEEE conferences as Program co-Chair, Organization co-Chair, Steering Committee Member, TPC Member, Subcommittee Chair and Session Chair, e.g., BCTM, ASICON, IEDST, ICSICT, CICC, RFIC, APC-CAS, ASP-DAC, ISCAS, IPFA, ICEMAC, NewCAS, ISTC, IRPS, AP-RASC, MAPE, EDSSC, MIEL, etc. Wang is a member of Board of Directors for the North America Chinese Semiconductor Association. He speaks frequently at various industrial/academic/international forums and a frequent consultant to the IC industry. Wang is a Fellow of IEEE for contributions to design-for-reliability and system-on-chip.
