Background.
· Thin film fabrication, processing and characterization including evaporation, sputtering and spin-on techniques, ion milling, etching, n&k, AFM, various magneto-optic measurements. · Ultrafast (RF-frequency) transport and magneto-optic measurements on nano- and picosecond scale, including circuitry design and assembly. · Performance characterization of recording heads (in collaboration with Seagate, Maxtor/Quantum and former Read-Rite Corporations) using broad bandwidth magneto-optics. · E-beam and optical lithography based fabrication of nanometer scale, hybrid semiconductor/ferromagnetic device structures. · Design, fabrication and testing of novel micromagnetic traps for biological applications, trapping and magnetic detection of magnetotactic bacteria.
