Nvide Cuda Teaching LogoUC Riverside has been selected as a CUDA Teaching Centers (2010-2011) by Nvidia Corporation, CA, based on demonstrated commitment of UCR Faculty, especially Prof. Sheldon Tan, to advancing the state of parallel education using CUDA C/C++.

CUDA is NVIDIA’s parallel computing architecture and a general parallel programming environment that enables dramatic increases in computing performance by harnessing the power of the GPU (graphics processing unit). With millions of CUDA-enabled GPUs sold to date, software developers, scientists and researchers are finding broad-ranging uses for CUDA, including image and video processing, computational biology and chemistry, fluid dynamics simulation, CT image reconstruction, seismic analysis, ray tracing, and much more.

CUDA Teaching Center comes with equipment donations, funding support for course development, course material assistance and software license from Nvidia Corporation. The supports from Nividia will support Prof. Sheldon Tan’s course development effort at BCOE to develop a new graduate level EE/CS217: GPU Architecture and Parallel Programming course (see course website) and promote the GPU-related parallel programming, simulation research works in Prof. Sheldon Tan’s MSLAB at UC Riverside.
