Prof. Tan organized Workshop on Emerging Circuits and Systems (IWECS10)

Prof. Sheldon TanProfessor Sheldon Tan organized an International Workshop on Emerging Circuits and Systems (IWECS’10) at Hefei, China from Aug. 5-6, 2010. Prof. Tan is the co-chair of this year workshop.   The workshop attracted more than 40 leading experts from all over the world. Participants presented many leading research results and outstanding problems ranging from advanced non-silicon devices, thermal and analog mixed-signal circuit modeling and simulation techniques to embedded and system level design challenges.  The two-day workshop consists of 16 invited presentations, and two-day post-workshop social event.

Prof. Kang Wang of UCLA,  who is the Director of FENA/WIN research centers,  presented a key-note speech for the IWECS’10 on “Nonvolatile nano-electronics”. Dr. Chandu Visweswariah, who is the Distinguished Engineer and Senior Manager at IBM, presented invited talk about “Zero Carbon Footprint Home”. Prof. Sheldon Tan presented a talk on “Thermal Modeling Techniques for Multi-core Processor Design”. Prof. Albert Wang presented the talk on “ESD+RF Design Challenges”. The workshop also attracted many graduate students from local Anhui University.

The workshop was sponsored by National Science Foundation (via grant No. OISE-0929699), National Natural Science Foundation of China, Fudan University and Anhui University and International Science and Technology Partnerships Canada Inc. (ISTP Canada).

Group photo for the participants of IWECS10 was taken during the workshop.  IWECS10 is the second IWECS workshop event. The first workshop was held at Shanghai from July6-7, 2009. The workshop details can be found at http://www.ee.ucr.edu/~stan/iwecs_workshop/iwecs_workshop.html
