Dr. Sheldon Tan is a recipient of NSF Career Award

Dr. Sheldon X.-D. Tan, Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical engineering, UC Riverside, recently won the prestigious Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Dr. Tan’s CAREER award is titled “CAREER: Behavioral Modeling, Simulation and Optimization for Mixed-Signal System in a Chip”. The award is $400k for 5 years.

Dr. Tan’s interests include several aspects of design automation for VLSI integrated circuits – high performance power/ground distribution network design and optimization, simulation and synthesis of mixed-signal/RF/analog circuits, embedded system design based on FPGA platforms and signal integrity issues in VLSI physical design (crosstalk analysis, substrate noise analysis and optimization).

Dr. Tan also received a Best Paper Award from 1999 IEEE/ACM Design Automation Conference and co-authored the book "Symbolic Analysis and Reduction of VLSI Circuits" slated for 2005 publication by Springer/Kluwer. He is a technical program committee member of ISCAS'04, ASPDAC'05, ISCAS'05.
