Book on Camera Networks Published

March 1, 2012

Professor Amit Roy-Chowdhury and his former graduate student, Dr. Bi Song (now at Sony Research USA) are co-authors on the recently published book “Camera Networks: The Acquisition and Analysis of Videos Over Wide Areas”. It was published by Morgan and Claypool publishers as part of their Synthesis Lectures on Computer Vision (http://www.morganclaypool.com/toc/cov/3/1). The book focuses on the current state-of-the-art research in camera networks and presents a detailed description of some of the recently developed methodologies. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first monograph-style book on this topic. The book’s target audience is researchers in this area, as well as practicing engineers. The various topics covered include wide-area tracking, distributed processing, recognition methodologies, active sensing, and camera network systems, among others. In writing this book, the authors build upon their experience in working on various projects related to camera networks over the last five years.
