UCR Awarded $650K from CEC to Develop Internet-of-Things for Energy Efficiency

April 5, 2017

Associate Professor Hamed Mohsenian-Rad (PI) and Dr. Alfredo Martinez-Morales, won a $650K award from the California Energy Commission (CEC) to design, optimize, and demonstrate new technologies to improve building energy efficiency using an Internet-of-Things (IoT), formed by a network of advanced sensors, actuators, and wireless communications devices. The project is for three years and is in collaboration with California State University Long Beach(CSULB) and industry partners. This project will result in enhanced building monitoring and control capabilities, reduced energy cost, and enhanced power systems reliability. Internet-of-Things have emerging applications in smart grids, smart transportation, self-driving cars, autonomous robots, health-care, and other areas in cyber-physical systems.
