December 12, MIT Technology Review published an article on the recent joint effort by researchers at the University of California, Riverside, and the University of Houston to demonstrate the feasibility of using nanolasers to enable information storage devices with areal densities above 10 terabit-per-square-inch. Ph.D. Graduate Student Rabee Ikkawi of Professor Sakhrat Khizroev’s research group conducted the groundbreaking experiment to prove the use of nanolasers could indeed overcome the common obstacles for magnetic recording to be extended to such high areal densities.
