Job Announcement: Semiconductor Device Processing Research Specialist

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California Riverside is seeking a part-time Specialist. The salary level will commensurate with experience and qualifications.

This is a research position focused on topics relating to wide bandgap semiconductors and power electronic devices. Tasks will include design, fabrication and characterization of power semiconductor devices such as Schottky diodes and metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors, drafting reports to funding agencies, and disclosing patents. The Position requires working with a local industry sponsor to plan, organize, and conduct research activities, and constantly traveling to carry out semiconductor processing experiments, which are only available and accessible in the academic institutions near San Francisco.

Professional competence and activity: The employee shall possess demonstrated competence in power semiconductor diode and transistor design, fabrication and characterization.

University and Public Service: He/she will guide graduate students in the prescribed area of research. The employee will be involved in generating, transmitting, applying and preserving knowledge for the direct benefit of society in ways that are consistent with the university mission.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials, Physical Sciences, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience working in cleanrooms is required.

Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree, either Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials, Physical Sciences, or a related field.

Advancement: Advancement through the specialist ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
