Vision

The UCR Electrical Engineering Department is to become recognized locally, statewide, nationally and internationally as a leader in electrical and computer engineering research and education.

Objectives

Towards achieving the department's vision, the UCR EE Department sets for itself the following objectives, which are aligned with attaining an AAU profile:

  • To be in the top 50 Ph.D. granting EE programs in the U.S.
  • To increase and maintain external funding so that on average each faculty supports, on average, 6 Ph.D. students.
  • To increase extramural funding of multi-PI, interdisciplinary research projects.
  • To recruit at least one member of National Academies.
We intend to achieve these objectives within the 2014-2019 timeframe.

Graduates of UCR's BS degree program in Electrical Engineering will meet high professional, ethical, and societal goals as demonstrated by:

    • professional visibility (e.g., publications, presentations, patents, inventions, awards)
    • professional responsibilities (e.g. professional mentoring, professional society membership and offices, reviewing and editorial work for professional journals)

    • promotions/raises (e.g. management leadership positions or distinguished technical positions)

  • contributions to society as evidenced by:
    • Leadership roles
